From the 19th of May to the 22nd of May 2024, Whitney Sawmills participated in the Materials & Finishes Show, which brought together hundreds of brands and thousands of the latest products and innovations for a four-day event.
Materials & Finishes Show, previously known as Woodmex and then W Exhibition, is the UK's main platform for carpenters, joiners, machinists, and installers to see running woodwork machinery, the latest materials, components, software, tools, and innovations in the woodworking sector.
At the event, Whitney Sawmills shared a stand with Woodland Heritage, and the team had a great time hosting a Guess the British-grown timber quiz and meeting new faces from all corners of the furniture manufacturing and joinery industries. If you stopped by to say hello, thank you! If you’re joining the newsletter after meeting us at the Materials and Finishes Show, welcome!
Whitney Sawmills took part in the Materials & Finishes seminar programme with the ‘Woodland to Workshop: Trees, Timber and Time’ session. This seminar featured Dermot Doyne (Sawmills Manager, Whitney Sawmills) and John Orchard (CEO, Woodland Heritage), championing the good use of home-grown timber from sustainable, productive woodlands for the benefit of present and future generations. Attendees had the chance to learn more about the wonderful world of productive woodlands and their many benefits, the state of the UK’s woodlands, the surprising supply of fantastic home-grown timber, and some of the challenges and opportunities this presents in a world of great change. Attendees of the seminar also had the chance to win a table made from home-grown timber! It was inspiring to bring the Woodland to Workshop to the Materials & Finishes Show 2024 audience. We hope that you found it as inspiring as we did. If you’re interested in attending one of Woodland Heritage’s Woodland to Workshop courses, applications are now open.
