Whitney Sawmills specialises in Green Oak beams, cut to size in lengths up to 40 foot (12m).
With decades of experience of working with timber framers, builders and architects, our Oak is sawn on site allowing a rapid response to orders for structural timber and personal attention to details.
We are able to select logs for cutting jowl posts, cruck blades and other individual requirements, and we keep a large stock of UK and European-grown logs for this purpose. View our price list for a guide to costs.
Whitney Sawmills has been sawing Green Oak for structural timber for many decades. We have in the yard at all times logs felled from local forests in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and East Wales as well as other parts of the UK and Europe.
As we mill all orders on site, we are able to produce beams of any cross section and have complete control over the process and the quality of the end product. Running our own sawmill gives us the advantage of being able to respond very rapidly to urgent requirements.
Although we concentrate on sawing Green Oak and Douglas Fir, we regularly saw beams, cladding, planking and many other products from timbers e.g. Larch, Sweet Chestnut and Western Red Cedar which are naturally durable and suitable for exterior work.
Using local hauliers at competitive rates deliveries can be arranged using pick-up vehicles or crane-assisted lorries for those heavier Oak beams. All delivery prices are available on request. From our base near Hereford delivery is available throughout the UK.
